Fortum Recycling & Waste improves operational efficiency with online systems from SPM

Fortum Recycling & Waste, a Nordic recycling company specializing in material and energy efficiency solutions, has taken a significant step towards optimizing its operations through investments in condition monitoring equipment from SPM. Using the cutting-edge Intellinova Parallel EN online system, Fortum Recycling & Waste aims to enhance the reliability and performance of critical equipment at its treatment plant in Norrtorp.

Known for its commitment to sustainability and innovation, Fortum Recycling & Waste (formerly SAKAB and Ekokem) is at the forefront of providing reuse, recycling, and disposal solutions, as well as soil remediation and environmental construction services. Its treatment plant in Norrtorp, south of Örebro in south-central Sweden, has handled hazardous waste and contaminated soil since the early 1980s.

The cornerstone of Fortum Recycling & Waste's recent condition monitoring development is the Intellinova Parallel EN online system. Seventy-nine DuoTech accelerometers collect measurement data that is processed and analyzed via the Condmaster Ruby software. This state-of-the-art technology is poised to revolutionize condition monitoring at the Norrtorp plant. Intellinova Parallel EN excels in real-time monitoring of critical equipment, offering insights into machine condition that can detect potential problems and ensure optimal performance.

In the DuoTech accelerometer, vibration and shock pulse measurements come together. The combination of the patented HD ENV and SPM HD technologies, the two most successful measuring techniques for monitoring mechanical and lubrication condition, allows for exceptionally early warning of mechanical faults on machines.

The agreement between Fortum Recycling & Waste, part of NG Group since December 2024, and SPM Instrument comprises more than just cutting-edge technology. The order also includes SPM's condition monitoring service, ServiceNet, through which SPM service engineers provide Fortum Recycling & Waste with monthly machine condition reports, complete with analysis of measuring results and outlining any damages. This comprehensive approach strengthens Fortum Recycling & Waste’s foundation for a complete condition monitoring solution.
