Airius wireless sensors detect fan imbalance at packaging plant
In this case study, Airius wireless vibration sensors detected a fan imbalance condition on a waste fan in a plant producing specialist packaging products.
Airius sensors on the fan shaft bearings measure velocity, acceleration, enveloped acceleration, and temperature. Velocity indicates mechanical faults, while enveloped acceleration and temperature signal bearing condition and lubrication issues. High vibration levels corresponding to 1X were recorded, prompting a recommendation for fan inspection and balancing.
The maintenance department follows up on the effectiveness of the condition-based maintenance program using the Plant Performer statistics module in the Condmaster Ruby analysis and diagnostics software.
